Prior to joining Emerald Lake, Mr. Burhenn worked in the Private Equity Group at Ares Management for 12 years culminating in a Principal role.

During his time at Ares, Mr. Burhenn was responsible for thesis development, sourcing, managing and executing investments across multiple sectors and transaction types, playing a senior role in a number of leveraged buyout and distressed transactions in healthcare, business services and consumer/retail. While at Ares, Mr. Burhenn served as a member of the Board of Directors of numerous companies including Guitar Center, Convergint, Sotera Defense Solutions and US Heart & Vascular. Prior to joining Ares, Mr. Burhenn worked in the Investment Banking Division at Citigroup where he supported healthcare and metals and mining clients in M&A transactions. Mr. Burhenn currently services on the Boards of Directors of Argon Power and Compass Rail and served on the Board of MBO Partners and US Salt.

Mr. Burhenn holds an A.B. degree in economics from Stanford University.
